While your ad is running, you have the option to make edits in your dashboard at any time to the Ad text and image, Audience target, and Ad landing page.
The type of changes you make to your ad affects how long it may take the ad to update on Facebook and Instagram ... up to 24 hours in some cases. After saving edits and arriving back on the specific ad campaign page, tap "Preview your ad" to see the updated ad.
However, a preview may not always be ready immediately. If you see the error message that says: "This content isn't available at the moment," here's why.
What am I getting this error message?
Facebook and Instagram have review protocols in place before ads can go live. The following changes made to previously scheduled or running ads will trigger a new review process:
With that said, the preview may take up to 24 hours to display, but most take much less than that! Typically if you check back within 2-3 hours, the updated preview will be displayed.
Remember, all ad engagements are sent to agents in real time even when your preview link isn't valid! If any engagements occur, you will still be instantly notified.
➤ NOTE: Editing and republishing campaigns may result in the following:
- Loss of specific data around users who've previously engaged with your ad: names, comments, reactions, and video stats.
- Potential impact to ad performance, since Facebook may kick the ad into a new review (which can take up to 24 hours).
- After republishing, you may notice that instead of a specific name displaying under your ad, it will change to "Anonymous User." You will also see "anonymous engagement" on your engagement activity report for those users who engaged with previous versions of your edited ad.
